Circulated by Caroline Douglass, Executive Director of Flood and Coastal Erosion Management at the Environment Agency
Today (8th June 2022), Minister Pow and James Bevan have launched a Roadmap for the National Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM) Strategy for England. A copy can be found at GOV.UK:
The Roadmap contains practical actions we will take to achieve the ambitions in the Strategy and to tackle the growing threat of flooding from rivers, the sea, and surface water as well as coastal erosion. It also sets out how we will deliver a host of wider benefits, including local nature recovery, carbon reduction and more integrated water management to help with both flood and drought resilience.
And importantly, we have designed and are going to deliver this Roadmap with our partners. Many thanks to the wide range of organisations who have committed to helping us take forward practical actions looking out to 2026. We hope the Roadmap will make it easier for local partners and local communities to deliver the Strategy in a way that meets their local needs.
Please can I encourage you to share and promote the Roadmap with your networks and sectors? To help with this please find a supporting slide deck and FAQ:
