The Southern Coastal Group and SCOPAC held a webinar on the 21st April, on the importance of Beach Management across the region, with an update from the MMO on Marine Planning.

The workshop was well attended with approximately 36 officers and members dialling in. Each Local Authority and the Environment Agency provided an overview of beach management on their patch and how it benefits reduction of flood and coastal erosion risk, provides amenity and environmental benefits, whilst extending the life of older structures. The importance of beach management in combination with hard structures was evident, whilst challenges around climate change and adaptation were highlighted through the presentations and discussions.
